Based on the usage of Woodsoft Optimizers software, it can be seen that Vietnam's furniture manufacturing industry was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Looking at the graph, we can see that after each development of the pandemic, such as social distancing measures under Directive 15 and Directive 16, and a surge in infections and deaths, production also decreased sharply on the Woodsoft Optimizers graph. However, starting from September 12th, the pandemic showed signs of easing, with daily infections falling below 10,000 and deaths to around 200, and the wood industry began to show signs of recovery.

  • Looking at the graph, it can be seen that from September 19th to 25th, the number of users returning to use the software was almost equivalent to the beginning of July, the time when the lockdown under Directive 16 began in Ho Chi Minh City. However, the number of file conversions only reached about 75% compared to that period. Thus, it can be seen that most companies have started to return to production, but have only recovered about 75% of their production capacity.
  • Also, the graph for the two weeks from September 26th to October 10th shows that the number of users returning to use the software and the number of conversions were equivalent to, or even slightly exceeded, the levels at the end of May, the time when the lockdown under Directive 15 began in Ho Chi Minh City. It can be seen that most companies have started to resume production, and production levels have recovered to pre-lockdown levels.
  • From October 10th to October 24th, the number of users using the software decreased slightly, but the number of software uses continued to increase. This shows that furniture manufacturing companies have recovered and are making efforts to boost production, fulfilling pre-ordered orders to compensate for the recent disruption.
  • Over the past four weeks (October 24th – November 20th), the number of users of the software has remained stable at a high level, and the number of uses continues to increase. Production volume is at its highest level this year, and compared to the time when Ho Chi Minh City reopened (early October 2021), it has increased by 30.3%.
Since most of the country's major industrial centers have been vaccinated, we believe that a major Covid-19 outbreak like the recent fourth wave is unlikely in the future. Therefore, we predict that production volume in Vietnam's wood industry will continue to remain high to meet orders from now until before the Lunar New Year 2022.
