Tip for drilling hinges while running CNC Nesting

When drilling hinge holes during CNC nesting, the holes are drilled very close to the edge of the board, making it easy for the board to chip or break during edge banding due to the rollers of the edge banding machine. People often use the trick of inserting a small piece of wood into the hole before edge banding to avoid this problem. With BAZIS and Woodsoft Optimizers, this is no longer necessary. BAZIS controls the CNC machine to drill the hinge hole but leaves a small core piece in the middle. Woodsoft Optimizers also makes an additional cut in the center of the drilled hole; after edge banding, it can be easily pried out to install the hinge. Just use a screwdriver or Allen wrench to gently pry it out, and the wood core will fall out, leaving a flat, clean hole just like one drilled with a 35mm drill bit. This method allows drilling hinge holes during nesting, saving processing time and the cost of buying a specialized hinge drilling machine. A small trick, but a big effect! 🙂
